About the Foundation
The Drew Wynne Foundation was established in October 2017 following the tragic death of Drew Wynne from methylene chloride exposure. For 15 months, the Wynne family tirelessly lobbied Capitol Hill, successfully advocating for a ban on the manufacture, processing, and distribution of methylene chloride in all consumer paint removers. This bipartisan achievement with the Environmental Protection Agency was a direct result of their relentless efforts, leveraging support from academia, industry, and governmental and non-governmental agencies.
With the same passion and drive, the Foundation is committed to honoring Drew’s legacy by investing in human resilience and empowering aspiring entrepreneurs. As an IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit, we aim to help motivated individuals achieve their dreams, ensuring no life is similarly cut short and that future innovators have the opportunity to realize their full potential.

The Story of Drew’s Dream
Drew Wynne is remembered for his quick wit, booming voice, and incredible smile. When he cared about something, he gave it his full heart and focus. This passion was perfectly embodied in his dedication to founding and growing his business, Riptide Coffee.
In 2014, Drew and his business partner, Jimmy, left their jobs to chase their dream of building a cold brew coffee company. After much trial, error, and patience, they created a product they were truly proud of. They started by marketing and selling cold brew at the Charleston farmers market, quickly expanding to local tech companies and cafes.
Like many entrepreneurs, their startup dream was largely self-funded, and initial capital proved challenging. However, a fortunate connection with a local businessman who believed in their product and plan led to a crucial angel investment. These funds catalyzed their dream, transforming Riptide Coffee into a sustainable reality.
In honor of our son, brother, and friend, the Drew Wynne Foundation will continue to pay it forward. We believe there’s no greater legacy for Drew than providing others with a similar opportunity to pursue their potential and happiness.
